Mayor Luke Ravenstahl kicked off the season's festivities by lighting the holiday tree at the City-County Building on November 21, 2008. "Shining Stars of Pittsburgh" is the 2008 theme for the annual holiday celebration held at noon on Light Up Night. Students from local schools submitted ornaments to decorate the 36-foot tree, donated by a City resident.
