The City Planning Department's Historic Review Commission have produced walking tours for three historic districts in the city.  The Historic Review Commission of Pittsburgh was established in 1979 to administer the historic districts and structures designated by the Pittsburgh City Council.  It is made up of seven citizens, appointed by the Mayor, who meet once a month to review all proposals for exterior alterations, new construction, and demolition of buildings in the historic districts.

Click on the neighborhood of your choice to read more about it and catch a glimpse of its historic architecture.  Enjoy!

Note:  Because these three historic districts are mostly residential, the tours themselves are designed differently from those involving public buildings.  For all photos of residences, neither street name or general location is given.  Furthermore, not every building you see on the district map appears as a photo on the page.  We do, however, encourage you to print the maps and take the full tour yourself so that you may view every building.
