Architect: Frederick J. Osterling; Edward B. Lee The Arrott Building is similar to Benedum Trees (see B) in materials and composition but lacks its vertical visual character due to extensive horizontal banding. The lion's heads on the exterior are a popular motif on many downtown buildings. The deep entry arch and the arcades in the upper floors are impressive, as is the small but ornate lobby. Osterling, one of Pittsburgh's premier architects, also designed the County Mortuary (1901-03) and County Jail expansion (1904) and the Union Arcade (1915-17, now Two Mellon Bank).
