During 2007 the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police celebrates its 150th anniversary.  Congratulations to all of the men and women who have proudly served Pittsburgh as members of the Bureau of Police.

Pittsburgh was first incorporated as a borough in 1794.  It was formally incorporated as a city in 1816.   In December 1857 an ordinance was adopted that established the first police department consisting of one chief and up to nine constables.  Today the Bureau of Police has approximately 900 law enforcement officers who serve its 345,000 residents.
