The First Avenue Garage and Station has a lined space capacity of 1,243 vehicles with 21 handicap and van accessible spaces.  It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week with round the clock security.  It is situated between the City Courts Building and the PNC Firstside Complex.  This state of the art facility is a short walk to businesses on Ross Street, Grant Street, the Boulevard of the Allies, Fourth, Forbes and Fifth Avenues.  For your paying convenience, there are three pay on foot machines-cashiers, payment by charge card (a first) and the Xpress Yourself Card (XYC Card) are available.

Attached to the Facility is a transit stop which was developed by the Port Authority. The "T" station came on line "Light Up Night" November of 2001 (Pittsburgh's Annual Holiday Kick Off Event).   You are now able to park at the garage and catch the "T" to downtown destinations free. This is the fourth free transit stop in the City.  Linking the garage with a high speed transit stop is a first for Pittsburgh.

The garage with the "T" connection serves those individuals who frequent the cultural district and sports events on the North Shore, home of the Pirates - PNC Park and the Steelers and the Pittsburgh Panthers - Heinz Field.  You are able to ride the "T" to the Wood Street Station which is in the heart of the cultural district and but a short walk to other venues and PNC Park and Heinz Field across the Roberto Clemente Bridge (6th Street Bridge).

The Eliza Furnace Trail has been extended as it meanders along the south end of the facility adjacent to the Parkway East.  To enhance the trail a bike, inline skating rental and refreshment station has been developed and is operational. A plaza with drinking water and a small courtyard runs parallel to and between the garage and the Port Authority Transit Bridge as well.

We would also like to welcome our new neighbors, the students from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh who occupy the dorms directly across the street from the garage.
