Q. How
do I go about fighting a ticket?
A. If you
choose to contest a ticket, you must schedule a court hearing within
twenty (20) days of the Date of Issue. Please visit Pittsburgh
Parking Court for more information. You cannot currently schedule
a hearing by web, but you can email to parkingcourt@citationmanagement.com.
Q. I received
a ticket but I was feeding the meter all day. Why did I get it?
A. Although
many believe you may feed a meter all day, the City of Pittsburgh
Ordinance #543.04 states that "No operator of a vehicle shall
park, and no owner of a vehicle shall allow the vehicle to be parked
overtime beyond the period of legal time established for any parking
meter space by notice on the adjacent parking meter or by official
signs posted along the roadway." More simply stated, you may
only park at a meter for the amount of time the meter allows. Feeding
a meter longer than that allotted time warrants a ticket for the
violation of "Overtime Parking."
Q. I paid my ticket by Pay-By-Phone. How do I know if my payment
went through?
A. Call Parking
Court at 866-353-7151, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am
to 6:00 pm and say "get information" when prompted by
the automated voice response system. The operator has access to
the payment records.
Q. There has been a car parked on my street for weeks without
plates. What do I do to get it removed?
A. You can
report the vehicle as abandoned by calling the Mayor's Service Center
at 412-255-2621.
Q. I utilize
the Parking Authority metered lots pretty often. I noticed that
the signs say, "Head in Parking Only." What is the reason
for that?
A. That rule
is in accordance with City of Pittsburgh Ordinance #545.03 which
states "
All vehicles shall be parked head-in unless otherwise
posted
"
