Homeowner Permit Information

This section discusses the permitting requirements for construction or renovation of a one- or two- family home in the City of Pittsburgh.  Many permit applications can be processed and approved within one day.  This usually requires that the applicant visit the various departments in person, complete the application forms, and pay any associated permit fees.

♦ Other BBI Permits

The Bureau of Building Inspection (BBI) also issues other permits that usually do not require a pre-approval from another department.  The application for these permits begins and ends at the BBI office.  The permit process timeframe for the following permits is typically one day.
