"Born to Lead, Called to Serve: A Celebration of African-American Service Organizations"
Exhibit displayed in City-County Building during Black History Month
This free exhibit – titled "Born to Lead, Called to Serve: A Celebration of African-American Service Organizations" – features photographs and other memorabilia honoring the civic service and educational focus of organizations such as the Links, Inc., FROGS (Friendly Rivalry Often Generates Success), Aurora Reading Club and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. The exhibit highlights the groups’ national influence as well as their impact on the Pittsburgh community.
"This year the City-County Building lobby serves as the setting for a magnificent collection of artifacts honoring the civic service and educational focus of numerous service organizations," said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. "The City’s 2009 Black History Month exhibit pays tribute to the inspiring men and women who continue to enrich the lives of our residents."
