Every child and teen participating in the "On Your Mark with Highmark Youth Challenge" is a winner!

This popular fitness program encourages children to take part in community footraces - by either running or walking the 5K distance. And each child age 6 to 12* who completes one community footrace - or each youth age 13 to 18* who completes two community footraces - receives free registration to The Great Race courtesy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

After completing The Great Race (5K or 10K division), each youth receives a personalized certificate recognizing the achievement. And since this is not a competitive activity, everyone is a victor for simply taking on the challenge.

*age as of June 1, 2012

The community footraces are:

  • Brookline Breeze 5K Run/Walk
  • Greenfield Glide 5K Run & Fitness Walk
  • Regent Square Run Around The Square 5K
  • Riverview 5K

More information on these races is listed on this page.
