Employees' Rights

Check your specific collective bargaining agreement, department procedural orders, and civil service regulations.

The following are some general employee rights:

  • "Accused" employees may review the complaint and are entitled to a copy of their own statement upon request.
  • Closing letters will be sent, which provides the employee the opportunity to review the OMI case report.  " Sustained" cases in the Police Bureau only, are not included here.  The disciplinary process has its own review procedures.
  • Any interview may result in disciplinary action depending on the outcome of the entire investigation.  An employee will always be informed of the possible work rule violations prior to the interview.

Possible closing categories are sustained, not sustained, exonerated, unfounded, founded, or closed by memo.

If employees wish to check their OMI history, they may request a review through the civilian Assistant Chief.
