(PITTSBURGH) January 15, 2009 - Mayor Luke Ravenstahl today called on the Pittsburgh Parking Authority (PPA) to conduct a feasibility study on the revenue that would be generated from leasing the authority's 11 parking garages. Such revenue, the Mayor explained, would be infused into the City's 36% funded pension system.
"We've done everything we can to right the pension ship, but right now bold ideas are needed to ensure that future pension liabilities don't take away from critical public safety and core services down the road." Ravenstahl said.
