MAYOR, COMMUNITY CELEBRATE NEW AND IMPROVED DEAN’S FIELD

(PITTSBURGH) July 23, 2008 – Mayor Luke Ravenstahl threw out the first pitch at a Tri-Ward baseball game this evening, officially declaring the new and improved Dean’s Field open for recreation. The Mayor, along with the citizens of Bloomfield, gathered to celebrate the renovations to this community gem, located under the Bloomfield Bridge, at 400 Ella Street.

The field, used primarily by the Tri-Ward Baseball league and the Bloomfield Girls Softball league, has undergone a $400,000 renovation. The dilapidated synthetic surface was removed and a natural field and fencing were installed. Trees and shrubs were planted, the welcome sign was repainted and a warm-up area for pitchers was created beyond the fence in left field. The field can now accommodate play up through Pony League.
