AT FINAL PITTSBURGH PROMISE NIGHT

(PITTSBURGH) December 16, 2008 - Mayor Luke Ravenstahl tonight presented proceeds from his Summer Celebration event - a check for $13,500 - to Pittsburgh Promise Executive Director Saleem Ghubril at the tenth and final "Promise Night" at Brashear High School.

PITTSBURGH BUREAU OF FIRE RECEIVES GRANT
FOR ESSENTIAL RESCUE EQUIPMENT

(PITTSBURGH) December 10, 2008 – When entering burning buildings, it’s critical that firefighters have updated equipment to do their job effectively and efficiently in order to help saves lives. Now, thanks to a $25,000 grant, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire will be purchasing 17 new forcible entry tools, allowing firefighters to force their way through all types of doors. These tools will replace outdated models.

Pittsburgh-based Allied Insurance Brokers, Inc. and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, who partnered to award the donation, presented Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones with the $25,000 check today.

PITTSBURGH AND DA NANG, VIET NAM - SISTER CITIES

(PITTSBURGH) December 2, 2008 - Mayor Luke Ravenstahl signed the City’s 16th Sister City Agreement with Da Nang, Viet Nam. The partnership establishes a formal basis by which cities can develop and sustain cultural, social, educational and economic ties with one another. Representatives from Viet Nam were in attendance as well as members of Alcoa, who invest heavily in Da Nang.
