Historic Review Commission (HRC)
Function:
The Historic Review Commission protects and maintains historically and architecturally significant buildings and neighborhoods in the City. The HRC is comprised of seven members appointed by the Mayor which must include an architect, a preservationist, a Realtor, a building inspector, and a planner.

Board Makeup:
- 7 members
- All appointed by Mayor; confirmed by City Council
- 1 “professional preservationist or architectural historian active with a broad-based local organization involved with historic preservation and/or history”
- 1 architect recommended by appropriate professional societies
- 1 from Department of City Planning
- 1 from Bureau of Building Inspection
- 1 from Greater Pittsburgh Board of Realtors
