Tow Pound Auctions
The City of Pittsburgh Tow Pound auctions are held the last Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the City Tow Pound facility located at 31st St. and Allegheny Valley Railroad St.
All vehicles are sold "as is," and are payable by cash. A refundable registration fee of $50.00 and picture identification (usually driver's license) are required.
- Note: The Tow Pound auction scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th has been cancelled and rescheduled for Wednesday, March 31st.
Things to keep in mind:
- In most cases, keys are not available for the
vehicles.
- Transfer of title can often take between six
to eight weeks.

Surplus Equipment Auctions
A public auction of surplus vehicles and equipment will be held on
Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the City of Pittsburgh Garage Facility, Building #1, located below Smallman Street at 29th & Railroad Streets, Pittsburgh, PA 15201.
Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The auction will commence at 10:00 a.m. The following items will be auctioned:
- Police
sedans
- Three motorcycles
- Fire vehicles
- Ambulances
- Refuse
packers
- Utility vehicles
- Miscellaneous
equipment
The terms of the auction are cash, certified check, money order or business check. The City of Pittsburgh reserves the right to reject any or all bids. All items auctioned are considered sold "as is". All sales will be final. This is not an absolute auction. City and First Vehicle Services employees are not permitted to bid at this auction. Proof of liability insurance is required to remove any vehicle from the auction area. All vehicles are subject to a $50.00 administrative processing fee.
