If you are interested in providing goods or services to the City, select Procurement to learn more about that process.
City vehicles
are purchased, distributed, and maintained by Fleet
Management. From our principal maintenance complex
in the Strip District, we service everything from police cruisers
to City fire trucks to Public Works sanitation vehicles.
Auctions
and sealed bids for the sale of government surplus and confiscated
property are presented throughout the year by the City of Pittsburgh.
The City of Pittsburgh auctions abandoned and confiscated vehicles
once a month at the Tow Pound, 31st Street at the Allegheny
Valley railroad tracks in the Strip District. The preview
begins at 9:00 a.m. and the auction starts promptly at 10:00 a.m.
You must be 18 years of age to bid at this event. The City
accepts cash or certified funds (cashier's check or travelers' checks)
for purchase, due immediately after the sale. Whatever vehicle(s)
you buy must be removed from the auction lot by 5:00 p.m. on the
day of auction. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. Prospective
buyers also should be aware that all vehicles are towed into the
Tow Pound and that very few come equipped with keys. All vehicles
are sold "As Is" with no warranty or guarantee.
