Debt Management Policy
Pittsburgh has a trouble history with debt and now that we are ready to borrow again to fund much-needed improvements across the City we have to make sure that we do it wisely and plan for future needs. In order to ensure this, Councilman Peduto introduced bill 2011-2245, a comprehensive Debt Management Policy for the City of Pittsburgh. Working collaboratively with the Mayor, the City Controller, and all members of Council, this bill passed with a unanimous vote last year.

Hillside
Opportunities
for Hillside Protection - At the direction of Councilman Peduto
and City Council, the Department of City Planning conducted a
feasibility study to determine the appropriateness of an action
by City Council to preserve land on the City’s hillsides.
The study was directed to address the appropriateness of current
and possible future hillside zoning distinctions, the impact of
current permitting and development practices on preservation and
conservation in Pittsburgh, and the appropriateness of adopting
a City policy that requires the dedication of all publicly held
hillside areas as open space.
