Northside/Mexican War Streets.
The
Mexican War Streets and surrounding
Central Northside neighborhoods
were developed primarily in the 1860's and 70's. Its
streets were named after battles and soldiers of the 1846 Mexican
War. The carefully restored rowhouses reflect Greek revival
doorways, Gothic turrets, stained glass, and Richardsonian stonework.
The Mexican
War Streets are north of Downtown
and are surrounded by Allegheny Center, East
Allegheny,
Allegheny
West ,
Fineview,
Perry
South,
and
California-Kirkbride.
The neighborhood is composed of a variety of people, including
long-time residents, new homeowners, and families.
Residents
of the Mexican War Streets enjoy a central location of the city.
This area is surrounded by many of Pittsburgh's entertainment and
cultural facilities, such as the Pittsburgh
Public Theater, the Children's
Museum of Pittsburgh, Heinz
Field, PNC
Park, and more. Residents also enjoy nearby comprehensive
medical care at Allegheny General
