Located in the midtown
corridor, the Bluff, also known as Uptown, is surrounded by the
Hill
District and
Oakland.
Duquesne
University
and UPMC Mercy
Hospital
are also located there.
Following the great fire of 1845 in which 56 acres and 1,000 buildings in the heart of the city were ravaged, Pittsburgh renewed its expansion east. The Bluff, then a part of Pitt Township, was annexed in 1846.
The Bluff is within walking distance to the cultural, recreational and commercial amenities of Downtown. Beautiful brick rowhouses, brimming with architectural amenities, abound in the neighborhood.
This is a diverse community. The residents range from long time residents, university students, health professionals, and Downtown workers who like the convenience of the neighborhood. |
