What
the area of Bon Air lacks in geographic size as compared to the other
communities in District 4, it more than makes up for in heart as a
community that is dedicated to maintaining its quality of life through
the efforts and dedication of its residents.
Bon Air's reputation, "Country living in the City"
is well deserved. Existing as part of the City
of Pittsburgh and being merely minutes away from the South Side,
Downtown Pittsburgh, etc., this community affords its residents
the benefits of residing in a "suburban" setting as well as the
benefits of all that the City of Pittsburgh provides.
Civic pride is readily noticed as you walk or drive
the tree lined streets where the view includes well maintained homes
and landscaped yards. The neighborhood is a balanced
mix of families, single persons, and senior citizens.
The Marc Kolenda Basketball Court, the Bon Air
Tot Lot and the recent addition of a Veteran's Monument area, provide
recreational and inspirational facilities for both the adults and
children of Bon Air and the surrounding communities of Overbrook,
Carrick, and Knoxville.
With the efforts and leadership provided by a community association in existence over 50 years, the neighborhood continues to grow and prosper.
