West
End
and Elliott are located west of Downtown.
The communities are located on high bluffs, and a grand view of
the Ohio River is featured from the West End-Elliott Overlook.
They are surrounded by Westwood,
Crafton
Heights,
and Sheraden.
West End and Elliott began as true coal-mining towns,
which evolved into neighborhoods with a rich history. Residents often shop in any of the number of antique stores, or dine at the made-to-order
restaurants and quaint taverns in the business district along Lorenz and Chartiers Avenue. West End Park, with its historic gazebo and flower-strewn
lawns shares a hilltop with Herschel Park, where active residents play baseball, soccer, or basketball. Each year, thousands of visitors come to the West End-Elliott Overlook to marvel at Pittsburgh's Fourth of July Fireworks or Pittsburgh's Light Up Night in November.
From
almost any point in lofty West
End
or Elliott, the scenery is spectacular. Some of the homes
overlook the magnificent valley below, while others afford a breathtaking
view of the Downtown
skyline.
West End/Elliott is full of young families, who take
full responsibility for, and advantage of their local facilities.
This is a friendly, welcoming neighborhood where civic involvement
to renovate homes, businesses and storefronts is top priority. |
