Benefits
of Trees
Pittsburghers
have always recognized the importance of ensuring there would be places
of natural beauty as a respite from the asphalt and concrete of the
city. City planners included the construction of our urban parks and
green spaces to preserve the forest amidst the urban jungle. However,
it is sometimes harder to recognize the benefits of the large, leafy
trees that are randomly interspersed within our city.
Our city is full of
these shade trees, which line our streets and communities and bring
a little green into our daily lives. In addition to the aesthetic
benefits, these trees also have a major impact on the environment
and wildlife of the neighborhood that is often less considered.
The city's urban forest is slowly disappearing, and we must act
before it disappears.
Please join
us by supporting the Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission, and you can
make a difference in your community that will be appreciated for
years to come.
